brickwalkway   Brick Walkway Restoration -
Time worn or improperly installed walkways diminish both landscape aesthetics and home value, and are a daily source of annoyance The solutions include reusing existing brick or pavers.  We remove and stack to materials then dig out and replace the base materials.  Proper construction calls for digging out soil to a depth no less than six inches.  A sub base of a stone mix called modified stone in layered and tamped with a plate tamer, forming a hard base for the walk way, either sand or seating stone is installed on top of the tamped base to accommodate the need to level in the pavers or bricks.  Bricks are reinstalled and tamped with a plate tamer.  Sand in typically used to sweep between the bricks.  A good upgrade is polymeric sand, which hardens and prevents weed growth. - click here for more images

brickwalkway   Stone Retaining Wall # 1 -
Too Much Water and not enough usable lawn area were the concerns facing the family with young children in this potentially lovely setting.  The hill and bowl each presented a design challenge.  The water needed to be re-routed away from the lower lawn and deck.  Drainage was incorporated into the site plan to handle underground water and runoff issues. - click here for more images

brickwalkway   Landscape Reclamation -
Working with a landscape professional that is well versed in plant materials can save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars in costly planting mistakes, the most common: of which is over crowding. Several factors can lean to an out of control landscape, including but not only neglect.  Crowding in to many plants during the initial installation is a common problem that will lead to a messy difficult landscape in several years.  Knowing the potential size and habit of planting materials is essential in creating a sustainable landscape that, with proper care will last for ten twenty or even fifty years. If those cute little plants that you bought at the nursery several years ago are now eating you house, these is little recourse except to remove them and start all over again. Plants need light, air and water. Although we do our best to reuse shrubs ornamentals and other plants when revamping the landscape, when crowding is an issue, parts of the plants die and will not be re-usable. The project in these photos was massive and took over a month of work to complete as well as hundreds of new plants.

brickwalkway   Raised Patio -
The homeowner wants us to create a patio with seating areas for relaxation with family and for entertaining. Although hard to see in the photo, there are grade changes that will require a small retaining wall to support the outer edges of the patio area.  This homeowner has a firm budget which makes designing the project much more streamlined and efficient.  After meeting with the client and finding out what they have in mind, then making a few design modifications to their ideas, keeps the budget where they had hoped it to be.
